Chippewa Lake

Mecosta County's largest lake, Chippewa Lake is a 790 acre, all-sports lake.
 There are no boating restrictions on this lake due to it's size.

Lake bottom is: ditritus, fibrous peat, gravel, marl, pulpy peat & sand.
Depths: 5 - 42 ft.
Best Fishing: Bluegill, Largemouth Bass

Horsehead Lake

Horsehead Lake is Mecosta County's 2nd largest lake, at 452 acres and connecting to both Big John Brown and Little John Brown lakes. Horsehead is an all-sports lake while Big John Brown and Little John Brown are both no wake lakes.

Lake bottom is: fibrous peat, gravel, marl, pulpy peat & sand
Depths: 5 - 50 ft.
Best Fishing: Bluegill, Largemouth Bass

School Section Lake

School Section Lake is 126 acres of all-sports lake. There is a County Park, with campsites for all to enjoy.

Lake bottom is: fibrous peat, pulpy peat & sand
Depths: 5 - 33 ft.

Tri-Lakes

The Tri-Lakes consist of 3 inter-connected lakes, being Lake Mecosta (297 acres), Blue Lake (235 acres), and Round lake (155 acres) for a total of 687 acres of all-sports lakes.

Lake bottom is: fibrous peat, marl, marl & sand, pulpy peat, pulpy peat & marl and sand
Depths:  5 - 39 ft. - Lake Mecosta  5 - 50 ft. - Blue Lake  5 - 45 ft. - Round Lake
Best Fishing: Bluegill, Largemouth Bass & Perch
